Re-entry

A new addition to Bollywood’s sequel bandwagon is No Entry 2

Suruchi Mazumdar

Mumbai, January 4: Remakes are yet to see happy days in Bollywood, but sequels are riding high on success. Gear up for the exploits of Casanova Salman Khan and henpecked Anil Kapoor in the second installment of the superhit laughathon, No Entry. Anees Bazmee, who had also directed the first part, has teamed up with producer Boney Kapoor for this project.

“We decided to come up with a second part right after the film became a hit. But we didn’t want to start off with the project until we hit upon a good idea,” says Bazmee, who is currently penning the script for No Entry 2.

Besides Khan and Kapoor, the original had also starred Fardeen Khan, Lara Dutta, Esha Deol, Celina Jaitley and Bipasha Basu.

“The film will retain 80 per cent of the original cast,” says Boney Kapoor. “Salman, Anil and Fardeen have already confirmed and are very excited about it. However, there will not be any scope for Bipasha’s character in the second part,” adds Bazmee.

No Entry, a film about three couples, deals with the extra-marital affairs of the husbands and the consequent chaos and confusion when the wives meet the other woman. “The characters retain the same attributes but the storyline is different. The humour arises from funny situations. The film will be set overseas but we’re yet to decide where,” says Bazmee.

“Though the commercial success of No Entry inspired us to come up with its sequel, it’s not the only reason. The characters and the story have a great potential. We have a very strong script in hand and the second part will have even more interesting situations and be more exciting,” adds Kapoor. Shooting is likely to begin in August. “We’re looking towards an early-2008 release,” he adds.

Meanwhile Kapoor is also scouting scripts for his wife Sridevi’s comeback. “It’s definite that Sridevi will return this year. We’ve shortlisted a number of interesting scripts and hope to finalise one by the end of this month,” Kapoor adds.
Two cheers to that then.
